Why another browser?
Browsers do too much, and getting to your private tabs takes too many steps. Vanilla makes it simple: a separate app for private browsing, with a minimal interface and fast ad and tracker blocking.
Does Vanilla collect my browsing data?
No. Vanilla has no analytics, tracking pixels, or ads of its own. Your browsing history is stored on your device. Vanilla doesn’t collect your history or searches.
Is Vanilla free, and which iPhones does it support?
Yes. Vanilla is free to download and use. It works on iPhones running iOS 26 or later.
How does Vanilla make money?
It doesn’t. Vanilla is a side project, not a business, so nothing needs to be monetized, including you.
Does Vanilla block ads and trackers?
Yes. Vanilla blocks known ads and trackers by default. You can adjust blocking for individual websites. Block lists are updated frequently, but some ads and trackers may still get through.
Which search engines does Vanilla support?
Vanilla supports DuckDuckGo, Google, Perplexity, Bing, Ecosia, and Kagi. Choose your preferred search engine in Settings.
How is Vanilla different from Safari’s Private Browsing?
Vanilla is a separate browser app, so its tabs, history, and website data stay separate from Safari. It also blocks known ads and trackers by default. Compare Vanilla with Safari and Chrome.
Does Vanilla save my history, and how can I clear it?
History is saved on your device by default. Tabs, cookies, and other browsing data can also remain between sessions. Clear local browsing data in Settings, or enable automatic clearing, which is off by default.
